Tottenham insider makes ‘amazing’ Dier claim ‘fans didn’t see coming’

Eric Dier is a “real winner” under Antonio Conte at Tottenham after continuing to impress since his appointment.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Dier, 27, has played every minute in five of Conte’s six games in charge of Tottenham.

In the game he didn’t start, against Mura on 25 November, he was still handed 36 minutes from the bench.

Wenham is not surprised to see Dier establish himself as a key man under Conte and hailed his ‘amazing’ development.

“Dier was much-maligned under Mourinho,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’ve spoken before about his three clean sheets at the start of the season and his payer of the month nomination.

“We have now kept more clean sheets under Conte and won three of the last four.

“It’s no surprise to see him continuously selected by Conte. Dier is developing into a real leader.

“We saw that against Mura, as soon as he came on we had a leader at the back.

“He took ownership of the situation. He’s a real winner under Conte and in my opinion, it won’t be long until he’s back in the England squad.

“Southgate can’t ignore that recent form. He has been amazing under Conte.

“A lot of fans didn’t see that coming.”
