Tottenham insider issues bold claim on ‘absolutely amazing’ Dier
Eric Dier has been the Tottenham player of the season and is close to an England call up.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Dier, 27, has made 18 appearances this season, featuring in all of Tottenham’s Premier League games.
Only an injury picked up in the first half against Crystal Palace in September has stopped him playing every minute of Spurs’ league campaign.
Wenham was again left impressed with Dier’s performance against Liverpool on Sunday (19 December).
“I really want to mention Eric Dier’s performance against Liverpool,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He was absolutely outstanding. He actually played a lot of through balls from the defence.
“He’s been outstanding all season and without a doubt he’s been our player of the season so far.
“It won’t be long before he’s back in the England squad. He’s better than Tyrone Mings and Conor Coady.
“John Stone and Harry Maguire must be looking over their shoulders because Dier has been superb this season.
“The fact he was ostracised from the England squad in the first place was really disappointing.
“He often goes unnoticed and his improvement as the season has gone on has been amazing to see.”
Dier has made 297 appearances for Tottenham.
He has scored 11 goals and registered 11 assists during his Spurs career.
