Tottenham insider: This is why ‘unbelievable’ Ndombele axed despite ‘screaming’ fans

Antonio Conte has “found out” Tanguy Ndombele after choosing Harry Winks to start over him as Tottenham beat Leeds on Sunday.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

As per Wenham, Conte opened up on Ndombele’s situation in his pre-Leeds press conference.

The Italian admitted the midfielder needs to work harder than other players despite his natural ability.

Ndombele wasn’t even brought off the bench as Dele Alli was instead chosen to make an appearance at the end of the game.

“Conte made some comments on Ndombele through the week,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He said something like ‘he has to work harder than anyone and work for the team’.

“Conte has found him out. He can clearly see he has unbelievable ability but despite those words, Harry Winks started.

“Ndombele doesn’t deliver. He had a good game against Newcastle who were 19th at the time.

“He scored a goal of the season contender at Sheffield United last year but where are the big game performances?

“Fans are screaming for him to be included but when he does start we get performances like the one he produced at the Emirates this season.

“I’m sorry, what? Conte knows more than any pundit or fan.

“He chose Winks to start over him after watching them both for two weeks.”
