Tottenham legend Osvaldo Ardiles has had his say on his old side’s win against Swansea in the FA Cup and praised one area of the Lillywhites team in particular.
The Lillywhites booked their place in the semi-final of the competition with a sublime 3-0 victory against the Swans, despite Mauricio Pochettino being without Harry Kane and midfield supremo Mousa Dembele left to the bench.
A Christian Eriksen brace sandwiched a solo effort from Erik Lamela in the highlight of the match, as the Argentinian sashayed towards the Swans box and fired his effort under a hapless Kristoffer Nordfeldt in net.
And post-match, the 65-year-old delivered his verdict on Spurs’ progression via his official Twitter account, where he wrote: ‘Superb and very convincing performance from @SpursOfficial. All the team of course but particularly our midfield, outstanding. Big big congratulations to MP and the boys. Semifinal now at Wembley. COYS COYS COYS.’

Football Insider verdict:
Ardiles is clearly revelling in the success of his old side, thrilled to see them do so well in the many years he has witnessed them as the second side in North London. Spurs were convincing – the scoreline does not lie – and in the centre of the park is where the Lillywhites can compete with most sides in the world, so strong is their squad. However quite often, Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier are criticised in the midfield zone. There was no question of ability today though for the pair, who linked up with Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min, and Lamela almost subliminally. No wonder the Argentinian legend was literally singing the club’s name on social media.
