Tottenham ‘looking to get takeover done’ after confirmed news – boardroom source

Tottenham fans have been crying out for a takeover at their club as they continue to criticise the leadership of chairman Daniel Levy and ENIC.

Spurs fans have held protests over a lack of spending and mismanagement of on-field affairs in recent months amid a poor season for Ange Postecoglou‘s side, who sit 14th in the Premier League.

It was widely reported last year Levy has been in talks to sell a minority stake in the north London giants at a £3.75billion valuation.

Qatari investors and former Newcastle United chief Amanda Staveley are among the figures linked with potential investment at Tottenham.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has shared his verdict on a takeover following a new arrival at Spurs.

Tottenham new hire arrives with takeover in mind, says Wyness

Tottenham have confirmed Peter Charrington’s appointment as a non-executive director as they look to strengthen their board.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Charrington is a “high-level financial engineer” and his arrival “could be a sign of Spurs looking to get a takeover deal done”.

He suggested fans could hear news by the end of the 2024-25 campaign if a deal is going to move forward.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I looked at Charrington’s background, and there’s no doubt he is a really high-level financial engineer.

“You could say he’s being brought onto the board to strengthen Spurs’ hand in negotiating any deal coming through.

“He’s got the financial experience and brain to offer that sort of advice, he’s a valuable asset.

“It could be a sign of Spurs looking to get a takeover deal done.

“I did think there would be news on that. Hopefully by the end of this season, if anything is going to be done, we will hear something.

“So far there have been no statements and no proof of a deal moving forward, so it’s a case of watch this space.”
