‘Tottenham make Ange Postecoglou sack decision after Daniel Levy vow’
Tottenham are expected to stick with Ange Postecoglou despite being eliminated from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in the space of four days.
That is according to former Spurs and Man United scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at his former clubs, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the ongoing injury crisis has left the manager in an impossible position as things stand.
However, Postecoglou will come under intense pressure if performances do not take a turn for the better when the injured players being to return to his starting XI.
Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero, Wilson Odobert, Radu Dragusin, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Destiny Udogie, Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner all missed the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa through injury.
Brown previously told Football Insider that Daniel Levy is willing to “bite the bullet” and remain patient, as he is understanding of the difficult circumstances.
The chairman expects the returning players to have a significant impact on results, and if the manager is unable to turn things around, he will be sacked.
Daniel Levy ‘will sack’ Ange Postecoglou on one condition
Of the 11 absent players against Villa, most are expected to return before the end of the month or at the beginning of March in what will come as a huge boost to Tottenham.
However, Brown, who has a wealth of experience working with managers at the top level including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Ron Atkinson and David Moyes, insisted that failure to improve results once players return will likely see Postecoglou sacked.
“They’re putting their eggs in one basket at the moment,” he told Football Insider.
“The thinking is very much ‘we’ll be alright when we get our injured players back’.

“But given the length of time these players have been out of the game, they’ve got to get back up to match fitness, can they do that while still starting games?
“Then, if they get them all back and they’re still losing games, what happens then?
“The pressure will only get more intense, and I think that’s when he’ll be sacked, if players come back from injuries and there isn’t an immediate turnaround in form.
“That’s what they’re expecting and hoping for – players to come back and results to improve.
“If it doesn’t happen, the blame will be placed on the manager.
“They’ve put so much emphasis on these injured players, so they’re willing to stick with him until he gets them back into the team.
“But if they come back and things don’t go well, it doesn’t bode well for Postecoglou’s position.”

Son Heung-min concerns continue to grow after Aston Villa loss
On top of the ongoing injury concerns and questions about Postecoglou’s future, the performances of Son Heung-min have been a major talking point of late.
Football Insider revealed on 9 February that staff at Tottenham have been concerned about his displays this season and they could move to sign a replacement in the summer.
The 32-year-old struggled to affect the game yet again during the 2-1 defeat to Villa, and the supporters have also now begun to make their frustrations heard.
He had the fewest touches of anybody on the pitch at Villa Park with 16, and despite his role as club captain, is now set to face further scrutiny.
