Tottenham make Bryan Gil U-turn after multiple offers submitted – Sources

Bryan Gil will be handed regular first-team minutes at Tottenham in the second half of the season, sources have told Football Insider.

The 22-year-old midfielder was made available for permanent transfer or a loan over the January transfer window but decided to stay put in North London.

Gil rejected all approaches, including offers to return to Spain for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.

It is understood that Ange Postecoglou is prepared to hand Gil regular first-team minutes following his decision to stay.

Gil has struggled to find his place in Postecoglou’s plans so far this season with 10 appearances made across all competitions and only 185 minutes of Premier League action.

The Spaniard started the season on the sidelines with an injury and struggled to fight his way into the first-team plans.

The arrival of James Maddison pushed Gil down the Spurs pecking order, and he has had to compete with the likes of Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski for a spot out wide.

Gil has been handed just two starts this season, but with Tottenham facing a busy fixture list in the coming weeks he is expected to be given more minutes.

Gil joined Spurs in 2021 for a £21million fee but he has struggled to settle in London and has been loaned back to Spanish sides Valencia and Sevilla in 2022 and 2023.
