Tottenham ‘make new Thomas Frank sack plan’ as ‘huge problem’ exposed
Tottenham are still reluctant to sack Thomas Frank and plan to back him as the leader of a long-term project rather than jumping into a rash decision.
That is according to former Tottenham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at his previous clubs, as he exclusively told Football Insider that there are lingering concerns behind the scenes at the North London club.
However, those concerns are not all directed at the manager, despite large sections of Tottenham fans calling for Frank to be sacked after a poor start to the season.
Tottenham lost 2-1 to Liverpool last time out, having gone down to nine men during the game, and now sit 13th in the Premier League after 17 games.
Football Insider revealed on 3 December that Frank’s position at Tottenham is safe at least until the new year, but he is expected to turn their fortunes around.

Thomas Frank sack update emerges at Tottenham
Brown told Football Insider on 4 December that Tottenham have bigger issues than Frank, and sacking the boss would do little to change their fortunes.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely alongside elite-level managers including Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, insisted Spurs still believe they have the right man in the dugout.
“Frank is definitely under pressure because results haven’t been good,” he told Football Insider.
“That’s the game nowadays, you change managers like you change shirts, the second things go wrong everybody wants the manager to be replaced.
“I don’t think that will happen at Tottenham, they hope Frank will be the man to lead them forward, it’s more of a long-term plan and they don’t want to tear that up.
“The thing at Tottenham is, they had a lot of issues under Ange Postecoglou, not just with the style of play but also with the players available.
“Now those players are the same ones who we keep saying making mistakes under Thomas Frank, we saw that against Liverpool and it’s a huge problem.
“They got away with it last year because they won the Europa League, but leopards don’t change their spots, and that’s why there are still issues.
“The problems go deeper than the manager, so lets say they go and get someone else now, they’d have the exact same issues the last two have had.
“Sticking with Frank, letting him get his ideas across and do his thing, is the smart thing for Tottenham to do while they have to address the other issues they have.”
Brennan Johnson could leave Tottenham in January
Frank is not the only one who could be on his way out of Tottenham in the near future, with speculation ramping up surrounding Brennan Johnson’s future.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 21 December that Brentford and Ipswich want to sign Johnson, and have joined Crystal Palace in the race for his signature.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Palace are accelerating plans to sign Johnson amid growing concerns about their squad depth.

The Wales international has featured 20 times under Frank, with 10 of those appearances coming from the start, but questions linger about his long-term role.
As a result, the Eagles are preparing to make a move as Oliver Glasner targets attacking reinforcements amid an unprecedented level of fixture congestion in South London.
