Tottenham man to follow Brennan Johnson through exit door – ‘I knew last week it was done’
Fabio Paratici’s agreement to join Italian club Fiorentina is a strange move considering their position in the Serie A table.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid Paratici leaving Spurs to join Fiorentina.
Paratici’s decision to leave Spurs during the January transfer window, has also raised questions about stability at the top of the club.
Spurs are expected to be active during the January window to support manager Thomas Frank, whose side are currently mid-table in the Premier League.
But Paratici’s expected departure, along with that of winger Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace, has raised new questions about the club’s transfer plans.
Tottenham ‘have been loyal’ to Fabio Paratici
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – doesn’t understand why Paratici would want to join Fiorentina, who are bottom of Serie A.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks it is a “weird” move.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yeah, I think I said last week Fiorentina was where I expected him to be going, and sure enough it seems to be. Now this is a weird one.
“I know, Spurs have been loyal to him during his ban from world football, then he comes back as a consultant, and then it was a strange position of him and Johan Lange sort of sharing responsibilities, and now he’s going to Fiorentina.
“And you look where Fiorentina are in the table, rock bottom at the moment. It seems a strange move because they’re going to be candidates for relegation.”

Tottenham star on verge of departure
Brennan Johnson has decided to join Crystal Palace, after the Eagles had agreed a £35million fee with Spurs for the 24-year-old.
Johnson was a key figure in Spurs winning the Europa League last season, but the Welshman has struggled to make an impact under Frank.
Frank did not have Johnson in his plans at Spurs, with the Dane looking to add a new winger to his squad in this window.
