‘Tottenham managerial target decides future in worrying news for Ange Postecoglou’

Ange Postecolgou is under pressure at Tottenham, and one of his potential replacements has made a dramatic decision on his future.

Spurs are in dismal domestic form, sitting a lowly 17th in the table with just one Premier League game remaining this season.

The North London side have won just one of their last eleven games in the league, a run which stretches back to the middle of February.

However, Postecoglou’s side have a final chance to save their horrific campaign, as they face Manchester United in the Europa League final.

Not only would a win end a 17-year wait for a major trophy, but it would also clinch a place in next season’s Champions League.

Tottenham manager target dramatically quits

At the start of the month (2 May), Football Insider exclusively revealed that Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham is on a knife-edge, with defeat in the Europa League final potentially proving fatal.

If the Australian was to be sacked, then Daniel Levy could opt to appoint a manager who has just recently become available.

According to reports in the Sun (19 May) Francesco Farioli is a target for Spurs, after the 36-year-old resigned from his role as Ajax manager.

The Amsterdam club looked certain to win the Eredivisie, but one win in their last five games meant that they were pipped to the title by PSV.

Farioli broke down on the pitch after the news of their second-place finish was confirmed, and the club have announced that he will be stepping down.

Postecoglou has one final chance

Football Insider Verdict

In any other season, Postecoglou would have lost his job a long time ago, with Tottenham languishing at the wrong end of the Premier League.

The only sides that Spurs have outperformed this season are the three already relegated teams: Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton.

However, the North London side’s European form has given Postecoglou one last chance at reprieve, and Europa League final success would likely buy the Australian more time at the helm.

The 59-year-old has boldly claimed on a number of occasions that he always wins a trophy in his second season at a club.

If history doesn’t repeat itself in Bilbao, and Tottenham end the season empty-handed, not only will Postecoglou’s claims look arrogant and brash, but he will be out of a job.
