Tottenham man’s exit stuns – ‘I’ll be checking on my sources’
Fabio Paratici’s exit from Tottenham could be down to broken relationships behind the scenes at the north London club.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who thinks the timing of Paratici’s departure is “strange.”
Spurs’ sporting director Paratici is set to join Fiorentina in Italy, whilst the club are set to hire Carlos Raphael Moersen from City Football Group.
It has been a season of changes at the top of Spurs, with a future takeover of the club a possibility amid talks with interested parties.
Keith Wyness to ‘check in on sources’ amid Tottenham instability
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Spurs currently lack a clear direction.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks something is happening behind the scenes at the club which has not been revealed.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Look, he may want to be going back to Italy for his own private family reasons. It may be something that he feels he can do a job there to try and rescue the club, or somehow try and save them when they go down, and then get them back up.
“It may be a personal mission there, but it certainly does, coming into the January window, to be losing your sporting director does seem to be a little bit strange. And so there’s something going on behind the scenes there, I think, in terms of the politics at Spurs. And again, it’s still this bedding-in period with the new Lewis family coming in. We’ve yet to see the real direction that Spurs are going to go.
“This January window is going to say a lot if they show some ambition, which I think the fans will want to see that. But who’s actually guiding that ambition now if Paratici is going? It’s strange timing, and there’s something more to this story somewhere. Now I’ll be checking on my sources the next couple of weeks.”

Tottenham plot double Man City swoop
Tottenham could make a move for Omar Marmoush from Man City, in a bid to improve their forward line.
Marmoush, currently with Egypt at the African Cup of Nations, has had to be content with being second choice behind Erling Haaland at the Etihad.
The 26-year-old has netted seven times in 26 appearances in the Premier League, and could move to Spurs alongside teammate Savinho, who has also been linked with a switch to north London.
