Tottenham may have been handed 'amazing' advantage after confirmed news - Mills

Tottenham may have been handed an “amazing” advantage after their Premier League fixture with Brighton & Hove Albion was postponed, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England right-back suggested Spurs could benefit from having games in hand if the sides above them do not pull away.

A Tottenham source told Football Insider (December 9) three fixtures are expected to be called off as a result of a covid outbreak at the club.

The Europa Conference League tie with Rennes scheduled for yesterday was postponed while last night the Premier League then postponed the game with Brighton & Hove Albion scheduled for Sunday.

Next Thursday’s clash against Leicester City is also a doubt.

Spurs are already one game behind the rest of the division after their game with Burnley at the end of November was called off due to heavy snowfall.

“If teams don’t get away from you and you’re still in the pack with three games in hand, it’s amazing,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“There could be pressure if all those teams win and you’re a little bit behind. Then you know you have to win those games and a point is not enough.

“We’ve seen it before over the past couple of seasons when things are a little bit out of kilter with Covid and games being called off. Fingers crossed, hopefully, we’re not going to get too many of them.

“I think it was always to be expected. It just has to be dealt with as quickly and effectively as possible.”

In other news, an insider has revealed a Tottenham starlet who won over Mourinho is ‘expected’ to leave and a January pre-contract deal is likely.
