Tottenham news: Agbonlahor issues verdict on where Spurs and Arsenal will finish after two signings agreed

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Tottenham to finish ahead of Arsenal this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict as both clubs concluded their January transfer business.

Spurs added Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus on Monday (31 January) while Giovani Lo Celso, Bryan Gil and Tanguy Ndombele left on loan and Dele Alli joined Everton on a permanent deal.

Arsenal did not add a single player to their squad while they let six players go, including former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who joined Barcelona.

The two sides are currently level on points with Arsenal in sixth and Spurs in seventh but Antonio Conte’s side have a game in hand.

Asked for his verdict on Tottenham’s incomings, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “They’re good players.

“The manager Conte will know the players from his time at Inter Milan and will know what they are capable of. For me, it’s definitely good business.

“At least Spurs have brought in some players. Arsenal have let so many players go and not brought in anybody. Spurs have let players go but brought some in.

“Spurs have had a better window than Arsenal and I’d back Spurs to finish ahead of Arsenal now.”

Arsenal

The two sides have to face each other in the north London derby before the end of the season as the original fixture scheduled for last month was postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s side beat Spurs 3-1 the Emirates earlier in the season thanks to goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Aubameyang.
