Tottenham news: Antonio Conte thinking of ‘£300m’ war chest’ amid ‘massive’ signings claim – pundit

Danny Mills has claimed Tottenham new boys Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have “massive potential”.

The former England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Antonio Conte will want another “£300million” to spend this summer in order to bring Spurs closer to their rivals.

January signings Kulusevski and Bentancur started as Tottenham fell to their fourth defeat in five league games after losing 1-0 away to Burnley on Wednesday (23 February).

The Juventus pair joined Tottenham after Conte sanctioned the exits of four midfielders last month – including Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.

Mills claimed the duo have “clearly got quality” but will need time to “bed in”.

However, he suggested Conte will need £300million to spend during the summer in order to make Spurs competitive again.

“Kulusevski is quite young, and so is Bentancur,” Mills told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“There’s massive potential there but also a lot of room for improvement, they’ve done okay since joining.

“The Premier League is a completely different animal to what they’re used to, but they’ve clearly got quality.

“These players will take time to bed in. But has there been a noticeable improvement since those players and Antonio Conte has come in – like the one we saw at Chelsea, Juventus, or Inter? Not really.

“He’s probably thinking he needs about £300million to spend in the summer, or what’s the point? He knows they’re not going to be anywhere near it without that sort of money.”

Tottenham sit eighth in the Premier League after Wednesday’s defeat.

Conte’s side are seven points adrift of fourth-place Man United with two games in hand on the Red Devils.
