Tottenham news: Antonio Conte told to make immediate ‘change’ as ‘incredible’ Harry Kane claim issued – pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted Tottenham need to change their style of play after being “found out” against Brighton and Brentford.

The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Seagulls and the Bees managed to “stop” Harry Kane, resulting in a lack of cutting edge from the Lilywhites.

Tottenham failed to have a shot on target against either side as they lost 1-0 to Brighton and drew 0-0 with Brentford.

Hutton suggested teams have “found out” how imperative the England striker is to Spurs’ attacking impetus.

He insisted Tottenham need to find a way to shake things up to get more out of Kane.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “If you look at the stats, no shots on target in the last two.

“That is incredible for a team like Tottenham with the firepower that they have.

“I think Brighton did really well against them. They understand that if they can shut down those spaces down to Kane and Son, they become ineffective.

“They need another plan of action if they can’t go through them. I think, at this moment in time, it’s Harry Kane dropping deep. Give him the ball, he turns and makes things happen.

“Stop that, you stop Tottenham. Teams are finding that out. To change that, you need to change the type of player or style of football that you play.”

Kane has netted 22 times in 40 appearances for Spurs this season.

However, he has not scored in their last five league games.
