Tottenham news: Club set for ‘massive financial boost’ after official announcement – Expert

The recently-announced pre-season tour of South Korea will bring a massive financial boost for Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On February 15 Tottenham announced they will travel to South Korea for their 2022/23 pre-season tour.

Spurs have a massive fanbase in South Korea due to the popularity of Heung-Min Son and So-hyun Chan who both play for the club.

Wenham expects the club to play two sold-out games in the country which can provide a financial boost for the club.

“Tottenham have been planning this since 2017,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“We are the most well supported overseas club in South Korea. I believe there are more Spurs fans in South Korea than in England.

“That sounds insane but we are hugely popular over there. This poll I’m citing taken was between 18 to 41-year-olds which is the peak age for interest in football I find.

“We have the captains of the men and women’s South Korea national sides at the club so it makes sense.

“I expect us to have two massive sold-out games while we are over there which will help to raise the club’s profile.

“You would also assume there will be a massive financial boost for the club with the amount of merchandise we could shift.

“You only have to look at any home game to see the amount of South Korea flags at our home games.

“I’m really pleased for this announcement, the fans over there deserve it.”

In other news, Tottenham are well placed to sign an “unbelievable” player available for a cut-price deal.
