Tottenham news: Ex-manager ‘amazed’ by Harry Kane confession
Alex McLeish was “amazed” to hear Harry Kane say he has “no idea” whether Antonio Conte will still be Tottenham manager past the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland manager admitted he thought the Italian had “turned a corner” at Spurs in recent months.
As quoted by the Evening Standard (16 May), Kane confessed he is in the dark over the manager’s future but insisted it would be “great for the club” if he stays.

The 28-year-old went on to suggest Conte “will talk to the club and decide on his future”.
McLeish was surprised to hear Kane speak so publicly about the possibility of his manager leaving Spurs.
He suggested Conte would want reassurances over the “financial support” ahead of the summer before making a decision.
“I was quite amazed this became public, this kind of stuff,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“It seems Antonio Conte has turned the corner with the team and come back really well.
“All guns are blazing and he’s got Spurs to a level which we felt those players were capable of.
“It seems his man-management has been extremely good.
“But you know there’s a caveat when you start speaking about maybe he’s not going to get the financial support he would want to total Spurs into a trophy-winning team.
“That looks like that conversation has produced these stories.”

Conte joined Spurs back in November and has taken charge of 35 games so far.
His contract in north London runs until the summer of 2023.
