Tottenham news: Ex-PL CEO ‘sure’ about points deduction amid ‘incredible’ Daniel Levy claim
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has insisted “full credit” must go to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy as his delivery of the club’s stadium has helped them avoid financial punishments.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed Spurs would not be in danger of a points deduction even after a “sizeable loss” and branded their financial results “incredible”.
Tottenham published their full 2022-23 accounts last week (3 April) revealing club-record revenue of £550million but a loss after tax of £87million.
Under the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), clubs are only permitted to lose £105million across three seasons.
Levy has also confirmed the club are in talks with prospective investors after taking the loss.
Wyness ‘sure’ about Tottenham points deduction after £87m loss
However, Wyness has reassured fans that Tottenham will not encounter any PSR issues.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Full credit to Daniel for doing what he did with the stadium in a very difficult environment.
“He got it done, and the revenue the stadium is making is record-breaking – it’s incredible for a Premier League club.
“They’re not going to get into any PSR issues, that’s for sure.
“They’ve still got around £70million per year of headroom in the accounts, so even if they make a sizeable loss – they’ll be ok.

“Tottenham are in pretty good shape going forward and I don’t think their squad is too far away from being the finished product.
“Ange Postecoglou has done a good job, and I think with a bit more money spent they could take the next step.”
