Tottenham news: Pundit issues bold prediction amid ‘incredible’ Heung-min Son claim
Tottenham could secure Champions League football before facing Arsenal in May if Heung-min Son can maintain his goalscoring form, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Spurs’ attack is “one of the most potent in world football”.
Son, 29, netted a hattrick as Tottenham blew Aston Villa away on Saturday (9 April) – with Dejan Kulusevski’s goal adding the gloss in a 4-0 win.
The win takes Spurs three points ahead of rivals Arsenal – with the two sides still yet to play each other for a second time this term on 12 May.
Son has scored six goals and provided one assist in his last three Premier League games.
Whelan hailed the South Korean’s “incredible” recent form.
“When you look at the incredible numbers Son is putting up – you’ve got to say Tottenham are favourites for that fourth spot,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“The front three as a whole, wow. What can you say? They are one of the most potent attacks in world football right now.
“The intelligence of Harry Kane is just next level. To provide those flick-ons for Son to go after – putting him in that position is only going to have one outcome.
“For me, Tottenham are in the driving seat. If Son can keep firing, they’ll have it wrapped up even before the north London derby.”

Kane, despite going without a goal for three games, has notched 11 goal contributions in his last seven league outings.
Antonio Conte’s side face Brighton this Saturday (16 April).
