Tottenham news: Pundit issues 'phenomenal' claim after what he's seen

Tottenham could finish this in the Premier League next season if Antonio Conte is adequately backed this summer.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s summer plans.

Spurs boosted their hopes of finishing in the top four by beating Arsenal 3-0 on Thursday (12 May).

The result leaves Conte’s side one point behind the fourth-placed Gunners with both sides still to play two league games.

Tottenham have drastically improved since Conte arrived at the club, with the Italian taking the side from ninth in the table to top-four contention.

Kenny claims Spurs could be a shoo-in for “best of the rest” behind Man City and Liverpool next season if Conte is allowed to spend this summer.

“I don’t see why Spurs can’t finish third next year,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They aren’t that far off Chelsea now and you have to think they probably won’t be up there next season.

“Arsenal look good but in my opinion, Tottenham, how good have they been since Conte came in? They will be better than Arsenal next season.

“Man United won’t be up there and I don’t think West Ham will be either. If Conte is allowed to bring in who he wants then I think third could even be the target.

“They are a long way off Liverpool and Man City, everyone is. But I honestly think that the best of the rest finish could be achievable for Spurs and that would be phenomenal considering where they were.”

Tottenham face Burnley and Norwich in their final two games.

Arsenal are gearing up for a trip to Newcastle and a home clash against Everton.
