Tottenham ‘plan to accept Rodrigo Bentancur offer’ – ‘Postecoglou is not happy’

Tottenham are prepared to accept offers for Rodrigo Bentancur in the summer transfer window, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, told Football Insider that the 27-year-old is no longer a part of Ange Postecoglou’s long-term plans.

Bentancur has failed to impress when given opportunities so far this season and is attracting interest from a number of European clubs.

As a result, Spurs are prepared to cash in on his services in the summer to raise money for further investment into key areas of the first-team squad.

Postecoglou is especially keen to strengthen his options in the middle of the park after growing unhappy with his current midfield options.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 12 March that both Spurs have been watching Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton as scouts have been spotted at Selhurst Park.

Tottenham plan to sell Rodrigo Bentancur and sign replacement

Brown told Football Insider on 15 March that Tottenham will accept offers for Yves Bissouma this summer after crunch talks about his future.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Spurs are planning to overhaul their midfield in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou is not happy with his midfield options,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s such a key area of the team, and the players at his disposal have not been good enough.

“They’ve failed to impress when called upon so far this season, and Bentancur now is not part of Tottenham’s plans moving forward.

“So if they can get rid of him and bring in a decent fee, it’s definitely something they’ll consider.

“I hear there are clubs in Europe who have been looking at a move in the summer.

“The same is the case for Bissouma, he’s not reached the levels they’ve expected of him.

“Tottenham have been so inconsistent this season, they can win 3-0 one week and lose 3-0 the next, and the midfield is a key reason for that.

“If they can bring in money for their current options, that will allow them to spend on replacements.

“I think that’s going to be their plan when the window opens.”

Ange Postecoglou sack update emerged after Andoni Iraola latest

As Postecoglou begins to make plans ahead of the summer transfer window, doubts about his future at Tottenham are continuing to circle.

Brown told Football Insider on 24 March that Andoni Iraola is Tottenham’s first-choice to replace Postecoglou if they decide to pull the trigger in the coming weeks.

It is believed that failure to turn results around between now and the end of the season will see Postecoglou dismissed from his role.

This comes after Brown warned Football Insider on 12 March that Tottenham could sack Postecoglou as a result of growing pressure from the supporters in North London.
