Tottenham player ratings v Arsenal: 26-year-old gets 5/10 after nervy display

By Will Butcher

Football Insider rates the Tottenham players from their 2-0 North London derby victory at White Hart Lane against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

Hugo Lloris 6 – Kept possession simple, has very little to do throughout the whole afternoon but when called upon produced a smart stop to deny Aaron Ramsey.

Kieran Trippier 5 – Struggled to provide the form that has earned him a place in Pochettino’s starting line-up. The 26-year-old passed backwards more than he should have done, and had little opportunity to show his sublime crossing ability.

Jan Vertonghen 7 – Solid at the back, kept possession well and fed midfielder Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama well; a solid performance as he continues to grow in importance for Spurs.

Toby Alderweireld 7 – Kept Olivier Giroud quiet throughout, comfortable performance from one of the divisions’ best defenders.

Ben Davies 6 – Looked nervy, with his decision making questionable throughout the match; none more proved as the 24-year-old crossed with nobody in the box without looking.

Eric Dier 7 – Kept things relatively simple and was comfortable in possession after reverting to holding midfield from defence.

Victor Wanyama 8 – Showed just how important he is in Pochettino’s side by wining the ball back in the middle of the park before driving on and sliding the ball into Harry Kane who won a penalty.

Christian Eriksen 7 – Top display despite being marshalled by Granit Xhaka in the first half. Missed a golden chance in the first half with the goal gaping, as he blazed over but set up Spurs’ first with an excellent mazy run.

Son Heung-Min 7 – Almost gave Spurs the lead after a brilliant burst of speed saw him run free of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but Eriksen failed to convert.

Dele Alli 7 – Missed an absolute sitter to give Spurs the lead, as he nodded wide of an empty net in the first half but made up for it the second half by sliding in to score.

Harry Kane 6 – Failed to do much throughout the match but got his name on the score sheet with an inch-perfect penalty.

Mousa Dembele (On for Son, 79 mins) 6

Kyle Walker (On for Trippier, 88 mins) 6

Moussa Sissoko (On for Alli, 91 mins) 6
