Tottenham player ratings v West Ham: Trio are 3/10
COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
Football Insider rates the Tottenham players during their 1-0 defeat against West Ham at the London Stadium on Friday evening.
Hugo Lloris 6 – Very rarely tested before being beaten by a point blank Manuel Lanzini goal. Couldn’t have done anything to stop the shot and stood up to prevent his side from conceding a second after a disastrous mistake from Alderweireld in his own box.
Kyle Walker 3 – Didn’t have the best of displays down the right flank. Poor while in possession and a slack ball allowed West Ham to counter attack his side of the pitch for their first goal.
Toby Alderweireld 3 – Looked good before making a costly error in the build-up to West Ham’s goal. Went to ground far too early, allowing a free cross in from the right. Then almost handed West Ham a second goal with an alarming mistake in his own box which Lloris has to make a brilliant stop for.
Jan Vertonghen 5 – Unfortunate to have been the one subbed off after West Ham went a goal up. However, the Hammers opener was the only time they properly moved forward with the Belgian having an otherwise quiet night.

Ben Davies 4 – Much like the rest of his teammates he failed to break down a parked bus on Friday and a poor flick on from the Wales international played it’s part in the West Ham opener. Fans will now be hoping it isn’t too late for Danny Rose to comeback and try and help the club regain it’s title claim.
Eric Dier 3 – Not good enough in the midfield. Very rarely wins any challenges while offering his team nothing in the attack. Far more creativity is needed from the England international.
Victor Wanyama 6 – Made himself known to the West Ham attack and broke down a number of threatening moves by the Hammers, but still needs to do more going forward.
Christian Eriksen 5 – Struggled to make an impact on Friday evening. Needed to involve himself more in the important clash.
Dele Alli 5 – An uncharacteristically poor display from the young star at the London Stadium. Misplaced some passes and broke down some attakcs for his own side in a performance well below the usual standards.
Son Heung-min 5 – Looked lost in the attack in a poor display from the South Korea international. Didn’t create anything against the Hammers and should have done a lot better.
Harry Kane 5 – Had little opportunity to strike at goal on Friday. Came close to breaking the deadlock in the first half, but he was isolated throughout against a strong West Ham back line.
Mousa Dembele (on for Vertonghen 67 minutes) – 6
Vincent Janssen (on for Wanyama 73 minutes) – 6
Kieran Trippier (on for Walker 80 minutes) – 6
