Tottenham in hot pursuit of midfield kingpin from runaway leaders, striker pal on list - report
By Richard Parks
Tottenham are interested in signing RB Salazburg young guns Dimitri Oberlin and Amadou Haidara, according to a report.
Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten claim that Spurs are in hot pursuit of central midfielder Haidara, 20, after observing him for a significant period of time.
It is said that Tottenham have also placed Haidara’s striker clubmate Oberlin, also 20 and who is currently on a season-long loan at Swiss club FC Basel, on their wishlist.
Haidara has played 42 times in the heart of RB Salzburg’s midfield this season to help his side sit eight points clear at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga.
Oberlin has also made a big impression for Basel, scoring nine goals in 31 appearances, including four in eight Champions League outings.

Salzburger Nachrichten report that Basel have an £8.7million purchase option included in the loan deal for Oberlin.
Football Insider verdict
A double swoop would therefore be something of a coup for Tottenham, given the rapid strides made by Oberlin and Haidara this season. The pair’s age suggests they should be signings for the future but they are established first team stars for clubs running away with their respective leagues in Austria and Switzerland. Both already have experience of the Champions League and Europa League, which is proof they are more than just domestic heavyweights. There is strong interest in the pair, and midfield kingpin Haidara in particular looks a real gem. Spurs would do well to get him signed this summer.
In other Tottenham news, it can be revealed that the club have ripped up the contract of a defender.
