‘Tottenham plotting total reset – Daniel Levy ready to loosen the pursestrings’
Tottenham could appoint yet another new manager in the upcoming summer window amid doubts over Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future.
The Australian is only under contract in north London until June 2026 and is not likely to cling on if he doesn’t win the Europa League this term.
Spurs drew 1-1 in the first leg of their European quarter-final at home against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday (10 April).
Meanwhile, chairman Daniel Levy has been the subject of fan protests at Tottenham for a perceived lack of investment in the playing squad.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed loosening the pursestrings for a new boss will be enough for Levy to “mend fences” with the fans.

Tottenham to boost spending under new boss, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted he expects a “reset” at Tottenham this summer.
Deloitte‘s Football Money League Report for 2025, released in January, shows Spurs are spending 42% of turnover on their wage bill – which is at least 15-20% lower than many of their English rivals.
Position | Team | Played | Points | GD |
12 | Brentford | 31 | 42 | 4 |
13 | Man United | 31 | 38 | -4 |
14 | Tottenham | 31 | 37 | 13 |
15 | Everton | 31 | 35 | -5 |
16 | West Ham | 31 | 35 | -17 |
Wyness claimed their spend could be elevated to 50% in the off-season when new players arrive at the north London club.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “A new manager coming in gives Daniel Levy a chance to increase the amount he will invest.
“That would be enough to mend fences with the fans.
“Don’t forget, they are spending just 42% of turnover on the wage bill at Spurs.
“It’s a very low number, when 70% is what you should be looking at as an ambitious club.
“Even if he went to 50%, that would satisfy a lot of the fans and would be a significant number.
“Let’s see where it goes, but I think we’re going to see a reset for Spurs in lots of ways this summer.
“I’m sure there are a lot of things in action. It’s never dull at Tottenham, so let’s see what comes up in the next few months.”

‘Richarlison certain to leave Tottenham’
Meanwhile, ex-Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider (7 April) that Richarlison is not seen as a part of the long-term plans for the future at Tottenham.
Everton are one of the clubs interested in a move to re-sign the Brazilian, who remains very highly-regarded on Merseyside despite his exit in 2022.
He has made just 14 appearances for Postecoglou’s side this term – scoring three goals.
