Done deal: Tottenham academy graduate signs after settling terms

By Tom Blackburn

Gillingham have signed former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara on a free transfer, it was announced on Friday.

The League One club confirmed the arrival of the midfielder via their Twitter account and website after he signed a two-year contract.

The 29-year-old spent last season with Championship side Fulham, for whom he played 39 times, before he was released in June.

O’Hara was on the books at Arsenal before he joined the Tottenham academy at the age of 17 and he progressed through the White Hart Lane ranks before being handed his first-team debut by Juande Ramos in 2007, aged 21.

The midfielder was hotly tipped as a future England star but did not make the leap to the senior team after seven Under-21 appearances.

O’Hara made 56 Spurs appearances before joining Wolves in 2011 for £5million.

In other Tottenham news, they are expected to leave a forward out and line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Everton.
