Tottenham ready midfielder signing after £20m+ deal agreed – sources
Tottenham are prioritising a move for a new central midfielder before Friday’s (30 August) transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.
Spurs have freed up space in their squad and budget with Oliver Skipp’s reported £20million-plus move to Leicester City last week.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have bolstered their ranks with high-profile deals for Archie Gray and Dominic Solanke this summer but are keen to add additional depth before the window slams shut.
Sources say Tottenham are aware it will be tough to land their top targets in the final days before the deadline but are nevertheless ready to swoop for a new midfield option.
Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr are the first-choice options for Postecoglou in midfield, while Gray has made substitute appearances in both Premier League fixtures this term.
Tottenham want midfield signing after Skipp and Hojbjerg exits
Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been shipped out of Spurs this summer and the London club are keen to replenish their midfield ranks.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed earlier this month (11 August) that Tottenham are willing to accept a £10million bid for Giovani Lo Celso after slashing his asking price.

Spurs picked up their first win of the 2024-25 campaign on Saturday (24 August), beating Everton 4-0 at home.
Postecoglou’s side will play in the league phase of the Europa League starting next month with the draw to be made on Friday (30 August).
