‘Tottenham ready to accept Bissouma offer’

Yves Bissouma’s Tottenham Hotspur future rests entirely on Ange Postecoglou as Everton weigh up a summer move for the midfielder.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson wasn’t optimistic about Bissouma being part of the long-term plan at Spurs.

Bissouma arrived at Tottenham to much fanfare after his 2022 move from Brighton, but his performances haven’t hit the levels required in North London and sparked suggestions that Postecoglou could sell him.

Football Insider revealed on 9 May that Tottenham plan to accept any appropriate offers which come their way for Bissouma this summer, and Robinson has said that Postecoglou’s sacking will decide this.

The ex-Spurs keeper told Football Insider that with Tottenham’s recruitment department in stasis due to the uncertainty over Postecoglou, Bissouma would be sold if the Australian were to remain in charge.

Everton have their eye on Bissouma as David Moyes looks to bolster his midfield this summer, but Robinson couldn’t determine who will have the final say on his future with Postecoglou set to be sacked.

Tottenham transfers ‘put on hold’ amid Bissouma uncertainty

Bissouma’s form throughout last season drew plenty of criticism at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the Mali international is firmly in the last chance saloon if he’s to save his Tottenham career next term.

Speaking on the latest Inside Track, Robinson argued that with Bissouma never likely to be first-choice at Spurs regardless of Postecoglou’s fate, Tottenham would be wise to accept any offer from Everton.

“He’s a player that I like but he’s not been able to reach the same heights at Tottenham that he did with Brighton – he needs a run of games to prove himself, Robinson told Football Insider.

“Tottenham’s moves depend on manager, sporting director, boardroom reshuffle, because a lot is being put on hold – we don’t know who is doing the selling or buying at Tottenham.

“I could see Bissouma being one that is allowed to leave if Ange [Postecoglou] was still in charge next season.”

Bissouma transfer a no-brainer amid Tottenham rebuild

Like Tottenham, Everton are set for a restructure of their own this summer with up to 10 new signings on the cards, and Bissouma could make up that number in midfield if the Toffees meet his asking price.

Few Tottenham fans see any way back for Bissouma in North London after his displays in a season saved only by their Europa League Final success, and a parting of ways could be the best move for all parties.

Everton won’t be afraid to splash the cash this summer with a £40million move for Aleksandar Mitrovic on the cards, and if Spurs can come close to the £30m they paid Brighton for Bissouma in 2022, it’s hard to see Daniel Levy turning down the transfer.
