Tottenham ready to host Super Bowl and bank huge windfall – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted London and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is ready to host the Super Bowl.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs and their owners – insisted hosting the showpiece event in England could give it “a shot in the arm”.
Tottenham hosted three NFL games this month with 39 fixtures held in England since 2007 and the sport claiming to generate more than £300million per year for the UK economy.
As per the Daily Mail (18 October), expert Dennis Deninger claimed London could have an NFL franchise before the end of the decade and host the Super Bowl before 2035.
Spurs’ new stadium opened in 2017 and holds 62,850 supporters.
London & Tottenham could host Super Bowl every seven or eight years, says Wyness
Wyness claimed London could be added to the rotation of regular hosts and stage the game every seven or eight years.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think it is possible.
“I was talking to a couple of guys over for the NFL London games, and there are seven or eight cities on the rota to host the Super Bowl.
“Adding London to that could be an option.
“It would be attractive for the fans. They’ve got to get the timing right, but I think for the fans to be able to come to London – it could be a great attraction.
“Everyone has really enjoyed coming across for the games.
“I do think it would be a spectacle which would play well. I think it’s good to have this international exchange of games.

“Super Bowl is usually sponsors and corporate, so London could give it a shot in the arm.
“Tottenham could put on a really popular event at their stadium for years to come and get all the financial benefits which come from that.”
