‘Tottenham sale done’: Major claim emerges amid Daniel Levy warning

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been warned not to play “hard ball” on selling the club after the claim that a deal is already done, reports Richard Keys.

Tottenham have had interest from Qatari investors, with Levy potentially selling a minority stake in the club.

However, despite the interest, the £3.75billion asking price has not been met, with on-field performances this season an issue for any potential investors.

The chairman has been in charge of the club since 2001, but Ian Wright claims it is time for Levy to leave Tottenham, if the club are to have any chance of success on the pitch.

Writing on his blog on Monday (17 February), Keys gave some insight into a potential deal for Spurs, but also offered a warning to Levy as the chairman is known to be a tough negotiator.

Keys said: “Oh – you’ll be interested to hear that I was in the company of someone this weekend that reckons a deal to buy Spurs is done. I don’t think it is, but I’m pretty sure conversations have been taking place.

“If so, I’d say this to Daniel Levy. Don’t play hard ball Daniel – you might regret it. I’m also hearing the owners of one of the top four clubs could be ready to sell. They’re arguably a better proposition for a buyer and would tempt a bid before Spurs.”

Daniel Levy has become source of frustration for Tottenham fans

Football Insider Verdict

Prior to Spurs’ match against Man United, fans of the North London club organised a protest against Levy, and his company ENIC, marching from the streets to the South Stand in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

One of the banners that was carried by the fans, read “24 years, 16 managers, one trophy, time for change”.

Levy is the longest serving chairman in the Premier League, and despite building a number of unbelievable teams, with world-class players.

The lack of trophies during that time period has become a major sticking point for fans, who clearly believe that a change in ownership will give them the success they yearn for.

However, despite the criticism from fans, Stefan Borson believes Levy has done an “amazing” job at Tottenham, having consistently overperformed their wage bill.

Man United new ownership offers cautionary warning to Tottenham fans

It’s easy to think that new owners will finally smash through that glass ceiling that exists above your club’s head.

For fans of Newcastle and Man City, that has been categorically true, with both clubs seemingly existing in purgatory, before big investment propelled them to the top of the Premier League.

However, Man United under Jim Ratcliffe have become a mess, with the minority owner seemingly doing everything in his power to do the most comically evil things possible.

This has included cutting concessions for pensioners and children, whilst raising ticket prices mid-season. Christmas parties were cut and United are performing a second round of sweeping layoffs to staff.
