Tottenham scouts monitor 22-year-old attacker during international break - report

By Dominic Toner

Tottenham have eyed Sassuolo attacker Domenico Berardi during the international break, according to a report.

TransferMarketWeb claim that Spurs sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old in action for Italy’s Under-21s side.

It is understood that Spurs scouts were present during the 2-1 victory against Poland on Thursday night.

However, the report details that Juventus are considering buying Berardi back on a £21.5million clause that has been agreed.

Berardi has been in good form for Serie A club Sassuolo this season when he has been available for selection.

The right winger has been sidelined with a knee injury for a large portion of the campaign, but is now back and firmly in the first team of the Italian club.

He has made 17 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and supplying five assists.

The youngster has become a recognised upcoming talent in Italy and is on Mauricio Pochettino’s radar.

Football Insider verdict:

Spurs should certainly look to make a move for Berardi if Juventus decide not to move for the attacker. The winger is a tricky player that has the potential to be a star name in European football. He has proven himself to be highly effective for Italy’s Under-21s side recently and is also performing well in Serie A for Sassuolo. The north London club could do with some extra quality in their squad next season if they want to compete for trophies in all competitions and Berardi would bring some extra quality. They do have some good goalscoring options from the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, but Berardi would give some extra firepower in attack. He is an exciting prospect and fans should be very excited if he ends up at White Hart Lane.
