‘Tottenham secure transfer victory as Mbeumo could still follow Tel’

Tottenham could complete a double transfer coup with the permanent signing of Mathys Tel now due and the addition of Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo.

Thomas Frank was recently appointed to replace Ange Postecoglou as Spurs manager, and the club look keen to back him in the transfer market.

Tel spent the second half of last on loan in North London, with that deal also including the option to buy the Frenchman.

It has been claimed there is growing optimism at Tottenham about signing the striker permanently from Bayern Munich, and they now look to be close to doing that.

Mathys Tel fee revealed amid Bryan Mbeumo pursuit

According to a new update from The i, a permanent move to North London for Tel is set to be completed for a fee of £30million, with potential add-ons, in addition to the loan fee already spent.

That is said to be seen as a “victory” for Spurs, given chairman Daniel Levy had not wanted to pay the £45million option to buy the attacker.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have put a bid in to sign Mbeumo, and it now seems they may still have a chance of getting that deal done as well.

The Brentford attacker favours a move to Man United, but a deal is reportedly not as close as the Red Devils may hope as they operate on limited funds.

If the Bees demand a fee that the Old Trafford club deem to be too expensive, they could apparently walk away from the deal and turn their attention to other targets.

That could open the door for Tottenham to move for Mbeumo, and it is thought he could be convinced to make a move to the North-London club.

Spurs’ case would be aided by his relationship with Frank from their time together at Brentford, and the fact they can offer him Champions League football after their Europa League win this season.

Tottenham can give Thomas Frank a major lift with double deal

Football Insider Verdict

Tel is a useful and promising player who has shown flashes of potential during his time in North London, which could make him an important signing in the years to come.

Tottenham may therefore feel they have done well to get him at a reduced price, especially considering that frees up more money for them to invest in othr targets.

One of those could be Mbeumo himself, with that extra bit they are able to offer for him potentially putting the attacker out of reach for Man United given their financial challenges.

Once again this season, the Cameroon international showed just how good he can be while playing under Frank with his performances for Brentford.

So if they were able to bring him in, it would surely boost the Dane’s chances of hitting the ground running and improving on a shocking 2024/25 Premier League season for Tottenham.

With that in mind, those in charge at Spurs surely have to be doing all they can to build on the win they have secured with Tel, by pushing hard to make the signing of Mbeumo happen as well.
