Tottenham are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Inter Milan attacker Ivan Perisic this summer, according to a report.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim that Spurs are one of four big-hitters looking to sign the Croatia international, with the report claiming it would cost £51.6million to sign him.
However, it is believed that Inter Milan would also be interested in a swap deal for their prize attacker, and would be willing to let him leave if Kyle Walker or Toby Alderweireld went in the other direction.
Walker’s future is currently in doubt after watching from the substitutes’ bench in recent matches, with bookies suspending betting on him joining Premier League rivals Manchester City earlier in the week.
Belgium international Alderweireld has enjoyed a sublime season at White Hart Lane, keeping 18 clean sheets in his 37 league and cup encounters.
If Spurs do not want to part with the huge transfer fee required to sign former Wolfsburg winger Perisic, it is believed that either Walker or Alderweireld can be used in a swap deal.
Fleet-footed winger Perisic has also been in eye-catching form this season, having a hand in 19 goals this season with 10 of those being goals of his own during his 40 2016-17 outings.
With a contract at the San Siro until 2020, it remains to be seen how strong Stefano Vecchi’s resolve will be to keep his number 44.
Football Insider verdict:
There is no doubting that Perisic is a world-class player that would get into most European sides, and improve them. However, with Spurs proving to be at their best when adopting Pochettino’s 3-4-3 system, there is little room for wingers as Danny Rose and Walker are used out wide. It has seen the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Georges N’Koudou struggle this season, as they are made to wait for their chance to shine under the Argentinian manager. Spending that huge amount of money, or indeed losing one of their best players to land Perisic, might mean it’s a high-profile deal that’s not worth pursuing.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs are also reportedly interested in this Dutch duo but fans are worried this could happen.
