‘Tottenham set for Australian exit amid Fabio Paratici return update’

Tottenham could be set to part ways with one of their most senior figures whilst there is an update on Fabio Paratici’s return to North London.

Whilst speculation of Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham dominates in North London, Spurs are undergoing a shake-up behind the scenes.

The club’s massive underperformance this season, sitting nine spots below their fifth-placed finish last year, has led to chairman Daniel Levy looking to fix issues from within.

The uncertainty of Postecoglou’s position as manager is making it “impossible” for Tottenham to plan for next season, and in a new report from The Athletic, he is not the only one who may be leaving North London come the end of this current campaign.

Chief football officer Scott Munn future at Tottenham in ‘severe doubt’

Vinai Venkatesham will join Tottenham this summer as the new CEO, having spent over a decade at Arsenal.

His hiring is part of a move to strengthen the club’s corporate structure and Levy explained that growth for the club meant they had to “expand our executive management”.

Venkatesham’s arrival is likely not the last move to be made at the executive level this summer either.

Chief football officer (CFO) Scott Munn’s future is in severe doubt, with the Australian having taken up the position in September 2023.

Whilst it remains difficult to assess his effectiveness during his stint in the role, Spurs have struggled with an unprecedented injury crisis and the overhauls Munn has performed are yet to pay dividends on the pitch.

There is also the lingering presence of Fabio Paratici, with the Italian’s 30-month ban from football set to come to an end this summer, having maintained an advisory role to Levy in line with the conditions of his suspension.

The former Juventus executive has been in talks with AC Milan [BBC Sport] to become their new sporting director.

Whilst some within Tottenham have admitted to missing the Italian, a return to Spurs is not on the cards.

Tottenham set for another overhaul but the root of the issues remains

Football Insider Verdict

The impact of a huge overhaul begins to dwindle when it becomes a bi-yearly occurrence.

Executives are coming and going, managers are coming and going, players are coming and going, but Tottenham as a club remain incapable of becoming a threat to the top of the Premier League, despite the resources available.

There is little need for any forensic analysis of what, or rather, who, the one constant has been during Spurs’ recent decline.

Yes, many will point out that under Levy, Tottenham have become a bastion of how to do football finance properly.

Fabulous, and of course, being the most profitable football team in the Premier League wins you…? Nothing.

Football clubs are not meant to be run like businesses, football clubs are designed to compete, and try to win trophies.

Spurs now have the resources to do so, it’s time that the man in charge realised it.
