Tottenham set for ‘dressing room’ unrest amid Ndombele-Paratici latest – Whelan

Tanguy Ndombele could sow the seeds of dressing room unrest at Tottenham if he is unable to force through an exit this summer.

So says ex-Premier League forward Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the wantaway 24-year-old midfielder.

The Atheltic reported on 25 August that director of football Fabio Paratici hopes to engineer an Ndombele swap deal before Tuesday’s transfer cut-off.

Fabio Paratici - Spurs' director of football.

Ndombele, who has four years left to run in his Spurs deal, has become disenfranchised in North London and is looking to quit the club.

But Whelan claims that it may be difficult for Paratici to negotiate a mutually beneficial swap deal.

He told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “The problem is Tottenham have got a quality player who wants out.

“He has asked to leave the football club. To get a swap deal, you have to find a player of a similar value and quality who also wants to leave.

“There are not many great players out there at the moment who want to leave. A swap deal could be huge, but that’s the conundrum they have.

“Everyone wants to strengthen but they don’t want to let go of their quality players, especially so close to the deadline.

“He is an unbelievable player on his day but he is getting paid a lot of money and doesn’t want to stay.

“Do you keep him around knowing he doesn’t want to be there? That can rub off on the other players and the environment in the dressing room.”
