‘Tottenham set for major changes’ as ‘extreme’ Postecoglou sack update emerges

Ange Postecoglou’s job has been hanging in the balance for months but as Tottenham prepare to make several key changes in North London ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, it’s in major danger.

Daniely Levy has done little to quieten the rumours of a change in managers during the summer, with Thomas Frank, Marco Silva, and Andoni Iraola all seen as potential replacements.

As recently as a week ago Football Insider understood that Postecoglou’s future remained “50/50” at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but supporters may have finally found out an answer as Levy makes a difficult decision.

While the Lilywhites did incredibly well to lift the Europa League trophy, beating Man United in the final thanks to a goal from Brennan Johnson, the team’s form in the Premier League has been unnacceptable.

Spurs finished 17th in the league table, just one spot above the relegation zone, having lost 22 of their total matches, becoming the butt of every joke alongside Ruben Amorim‘s Red Devils.

Ange Postecoglou at risk of Tottenham sack

According to The Telegraph (31 May), sources view Postecoglou’s future as under “extreme risk” despite lifting the Europa League trophy against Man United.

Levy has been away from the UK in recent days, with the manager away on holiday, so the Australian’s future is set to be decided next week when all parties are present.

It is understood that Spurs will make major changes in key departments this summer, including medical and sports science, and due to this, some quarters in North London expect a change in leadership in the dugout.

Daniel Levy to make cut-throat decision in North London

Football Insider verdict

Levy thanked Postecoglou for his achievements in the matchday programme before Spurs were thumped 4-1 by Brighton the final day of the season, but it did little to address concerns over his future.

Having now broken a 17-year trophyless drought, the Australian has achieved more than the likes of Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, and Nuno Espirito Santo, so a sacking would be very harsh.

However, winning just 29 per cent of his matches in the Premier League is absoltely unacceptable and must be addressed next season if the current manager is still in charge.

There could be several changes made to the squad as well, and considering the number of long-term injuries which plagued the team, more reinforcements will be vital.

Postecoglou has every chance of carrying Spurs to more than just the Europa League, having qualified for the Champions League as well, but it remains to be seen if Levy is going to give him the time to do it.
