Tottenham set sights on signing multiple gems who can become ‘big players’
Tottenham have set their sights on signing multiple young players who can develop and turn into “big players” in the next few years.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have said about Spurs’ transfer plans.
Improving the squad has become a key target following their qualification for the Champions League, but they will stick to their guns by signing young talents.
They will follow the likes of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert who have all made moves to North London in recent years.
Ange Postecoglou‘s inexperienced squad have largely struggled in the Premier League, but that has not put the club off of continuing their strategy.
This comes after Tottenham legend Chris Waddle hit out at Spurs’ recruitment strategy, questioning their ambition and calling on them to back the manager.

Tottenham transfer plans revealed after Europa League success
Despite their plans to recruit younger options, there is a belief they will also have to strengthen with immediate first-team improvements given their dismal season.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 23 May that Cristian Romero could leave Tottenham, which would force them to sign an upgrade at centre-back.
O’Rourke explained that Spurs’ target will again be to sign young players and aid in their development, but there are players and areas they want to strengthen.
“Spurs have had a bit of a different strategy in the last couple of windows,” he told Football Insider.
“They’ve been looking at younger players, young talents that they can help develop and become big players at the club.
“I still think they’ll be looking at that type of signing for the summer if they are looking to strengthen their squad.
“There will be other players too, and other areas of the squad they look to strengthen in.”

Ange Postecoglou sack update emerges at Spurs
While preparations for the summer transfer window have begun at Spurs, there is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding Postecoglou’s future.
Football Insider revealed on 23 May that Tottenham are 50/50 on sacking Postecoglou after he led them to win the Europa League and break a 17-year trophy drought.
Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board have held furthet talks in the wake of Wednesday’s momentous triumph, but there is still a feeling they might have to make a change after a dismal domestic season.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 2 May that Postecoglou’s future is on a knife’s edge, with both the board and fans split over a decision.
