Tottenham set to rival Bundesliga giants for £10m-rated attacker - report
By Derek Smithson
Tottenham are set to battle German giants Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Freiburg attacker Maximilian Philipp, according to a report.
The Sun claim that Spurs have had the 23-year-old on their radar for “some time” and value him at £10million.
It is understood that Mauricio Pochettino is keen to strengthen his squad in the summer and could now submit an offer for Philipp.
However, the report details that Bundesliga club Dortmund are prepared to swoop for the attacker as they react to another long-term injury to star man Marco Reus.
The Sun report that Philipp has a huge £175million release clause and Freiburg know the fee is hugely unrealistic, but are renowned as very tough negotiators as they try to get a best possible price.

Philipp has enjoyed a strong season in Germany with Freiburg and been one of their outstanding players in a seventh-placed league finish.
The versatile attacker can play out wide or up top through the centre, something that would help him fit into Pochettino’s system at Spurs.
He made 27 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring nine goals and supplying five assists in return.
Football Insider verdict:
Spurs need to improve their squad if they want to finally win silverware next season and are just a few players short from doing so. Pochettino is certainly the man to guide them forward and has talented attackers such as Christian Eriksen, Heung-Min Son, Dele Alli and Harry Kane in his squad. Philipp has emerged as a very exciting talent in the Bundesliga and looks to have the skills to succeed in the Premier League. The German would not be handed an automatic starting XI role if he joined, but Spurs are going to need a stronger squad if they are to compete domestically and in Europe.
