Tottenham shortlist Everton player, January signing plan accelerates

Thomas Frank is eager to complete the signing of a top-class winger at Tottenham, sources have told Football Insider.

A wide man was one of Spurs’ priorities in the summer transfer window, but they failed to get someone in before the window slammed shut.

Morgan Rogers had been one of Tottenham’s major targets off the back of his superb 2024-25 campaign in the Premier League.

However, Rogers is now set to sign a new deal at Aston Villa, which ends any chance of a move to north London.

Sources say that Tottenham are still desperate to strengthen out wide though, with a number of names on their shortlist.

Tottenham have two winger options

Over the summer, Tottenham were linked with Rodrygo from Real Madrid, and Frank’s side remain interested in the Brazilian.

Sources say that it will be a difficult deal for Spurs to do in January due to the cost, but they may revisit it in the summer if the 24-year-old continues to struggle for game time in Spain.

Iliman Ndiaye is another winger that Tottenham are looking at, after the Everton man’s superb start to the season.

The Toffees will be reluctant to let one of their most exciting players leave though, which could mean that his price tag is out of the north London side’s reach.

Tottenham linked with former Premier League star

Meanwhile, Tottenham have also been linked with Ivan Toney ahead of the January transfer window.

The former Brentford man is being chased by Premier League clubs who are in desperate need of a goal-hungry forward.

Sources told Football Insider that Everton are interested in signing Toney in January, given the disappointing output from Beto and Thierno Barry.

However, Tottenham will hope to win the race for the England international to help bolster their attacking ranks.
