Tottenham slash Lo Celso price amid Aston Villa twist – sources

Tottenham are willing to accept a £10m bid for Giovani Lo Celso after slashing his asking price, sources have told Football Insider.

Real Betis lead the interest from Spain and Aston Villa have also asked to be kept informed about the 28-year-old’s situation.

Spurs would prefer a permanent move to another loan after the Argentine midfielder spent the past 18 months with Spanish club Villareal.

Lo Celso is out of contract at the end of the season and has been deemed surplus to requirements by the club.

Spurs had wanted more than £15m up front for Lo Celso this summer but the price has now tumbled as they look to strike a deal this month.

Tottenham willing to let Giovani Lo Celso go in cut-price deal

Lo Celso has largely underwhelmed during his stint with Tottenham after arriving in a £55million deal from Real Betis in 2019.

The midfielder has registered just 10 goals and eight assists in 108 appearances after struggling to nail down a permanent spot in the starting lineup.

Manager Ange Postecoglou

After returning to Spurs following his loan spell with Villarreal in 2022-23, Lo Celso registered two goals and two assists last season as he started in just six of his 24 outings.

Ange Postecoglu clearly doesn’t have faith in Lo Celso’s ability to revive his Sprus career so is willing to let him go for cheap.
