Tottenham star Fraser Forster set for lengthy absence – Sources

Tottenham goalkeeper Fraser Forster is expected to be out injured until mid-April, sources have told Football Insider.

Forster, 35, sustained a fracture in his foot during training last month and is some way off a return.

Sources say the six-times former England international is now set to be sidelined for another five weeks before returning to training.

Tottenham are yet to publically announce a date for the Englishman’s return but he has been out of the matchday squad for the team’s last four Premier League fixtures.

He has made just one appearance this season, in Tottenham’s defeat to Fulham in the second round of the League Cup last August.

Neverthess, Forster has been Ange Postecoglou’s back-up choice for most of this season behind summer signing Guglielmo Vicario, having made the matchday squad 23 times in the league.

He moved to north London on a free transfer in 2022 after the expiration of his contract at Southampton.

While he was brought in as a number two following Joe Hart’s exit, he made 13 starts in the league last season covering for Hugo Lloris, who had two spells out of the side with injuries.

Forster signed an extension to his initial two-year deal in December, which will keep him under contract with the Lilywhites until 2025.
