Tottenham star Udogie and Leeds duo Ramazani and Piroe react to Willy Gnonto

Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto has seen his post on social media reacted to by Tottenham star Destiny Udogie and Whites teammates Largie Ramazani and Joel Piroe.

Leeds marched on to the Championship title last season in superb form, as Daniel Farke’s side picked up 100 points across the campaign to return to the Premier League at the second time of asking.

The exciting forward played his part in their success, registering nine goals and six assists in 43 appearances, but did struggle to nail down a starting spot in attack.

The Italian winger was linked with a move away from Elland Road to join Everton last summer, and despite signing a new four-year contract in August, Gnonto emerged as a target for numerous Saudi Arabian clubs in January, as revealed by Football Insider.

With the campaign now over and Leeds back in the top-flight, his future at the club remains unclear, but he is currently focusing on international action as he hopes to lead Italy to U21 European Championship glory.

Gnonto was handed a starting berth up-front for Italy’s tournament opener against Romania Under-21s, and he helped his side to a 1-0 victory as Roma’s Tommaso Baldanzi scored what proved to be the winning goal in the first-half.

Prior to the outing, the 21-year-old shared a picture of him in his Azzurri kit to his Instagram account, and his uncaptioned post was met with reaction from a number of his Whites teammates, as Ramazani commented, saying: “10 yeahhhhh” and Piroe added three fire emojis to show his support.

Gnonto has played 13 times for Italy’s senior team, and one of his international teammates, Udogie, also reacted to the post with a like, while Spurs stars Archie Gray and Djed Spence followed suit.

Farke should keep Gnonto at Leeds for next season

Football Insider verdict

Leeds are planning for a huge summer with Farke at the helm, as they look to invest heavily in his playing squad to try and survive in the Premier League and become an established club at the top level over the next few years.

Their summer business is yet to begin, but Football Insider have revealed that the Whites are readying a move for Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, while Tottenham man Manor Solomon could return to Elland Road on a permanent deal after an impressive loan spell.

Gnonto found playing time hard to come by at times last season, but he still had a real influence on Farke’s team when given the chance, and ended the campaign in fine form with three goals and an assist in Leeds’ last three league games.

He has been with Leeds for nearly three years now, and continuity is important in building a successful team that can go places in the Premier League.

It would, therefore, make little sense for Farke to approve of selling Gnonto this summer, despite previous interest in his services, as he is clearly happy to play a supporting role, and has the quality and potential to impress in the top-flight for a number of years to come.
