Tottenham stars to hold Nuno talks after dressing room 'leak' via Athletic - pundit
Kevin Phillips has insisted the Tottenham squad “need to look at themselves” amid reported unhappiness towards Nuno Espirito Santo.
The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the senior players need to have a meeting with the manager rather than “leaking stories” of their discontent.
As reported by the Athletic (29th September), Nuno’s style and personality at Spurs has failed to endear him to the squad.
There is reportedly no small talk between the Portuguese boss and his players and no real conversation away from the training pitch.
As a result, there is said to be a feeling in the dressing room he is uncommunicative and distant.
Phillips admitted it is “easy” for players to pin the blame on the manager.

He insisted the Spurs squad need to clear the air with Nuno if there are any issues behind closed doors.
Phillips told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs: “At the end of the day, it’s easy to blame the manager. It’s easy to leak stories the players are disappointed with this man.
“We heard with Mourinho, players questioning his sessions and what he was doing on the training ground. Come on now. He has won everything over and over again. He’s one of the world’s best managers.
“I think the players sometimes look for those excuses when things aren’t going well. They certainly weren’t questioning the first three games when then won and sitting top of the league. We never heard anything.
“Ultimately the manager needs to take some of the blame but the players need to look at themselves.
“The senior players in that squad maybe need to shut the door, have a meeting and iron out why. If they’re not happy, go see the manager.
“Don’t be leaking stories that you’re not happy with the style and his characteristics are not suiting the dressing room. Ultimately, you’ve got to look at yourself first.
“Unfortunately these things happen when you’re manager of Tottenham and things aren’t going well.”
