Tottenham are facing another pay row with a key player after Christian Eriksen had has head turned by interest from rival Premier League clubs.
The Sun claim that the attacking midfielder, 26, wants “parity” with some of the English top flight’s top earners after taking his game to a new level this season.
Eriksen has been in outstanding form for Spurs and it is said that he is aware of interest from top clubs across the globe.
The Denmark international has two years remaining on a contract that the Daily Star claim earns him £75,000-a-week at Tottenham.
Spurs are also locked in a contract stalemate with Toby Alderweireld, who has rejected a new deal and is likely to quit this summer, while Danny Rose has also criticised the salaries at the club compared to rivals.
Football Insider verdict:
More contract pain is brewing for Tottenham, who will be desperate to keep hold of Eriksen after the best season of his career. No Spurs player has been more effective than the great Dane this season, and it is a reflection of his importance to the team that Mauricio Pochettino selected him in the starting line-up v Brighton last night even though he rung the changes and rotated many regulars. The manager just can’t do without the team’s conductor, who has added a greater goal threat to his game this season, which has yielded 14 goals and 11 assists from 41 matches. Surely, there is no way Tottenham can lose Alderweireld and Eriksen in the same summer?
In other Tottenham news, it can be revealed that the club have been handed a stunning £52million windfall.
