Tottenham swoop for Lukaku ‘makes sense’ as new details emerge today of Tuchel bust-up – pundit
Frank McAvennie claims Romelu Lukaku potentially moving to Tottenham “makes sense” after his bust-up with Thomas Tuchel.
However, the former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, doesn’t think the deal will happen.
The striker told Sky Italy on New Year’s Eve he was “not happy” with his situation at Stamford Bridge.

Football Insider revealed today details of events that preceded that interview, including Tuchel accusing him of being “overweight” and slower and less sharp than he was at Inter Milan last season.
On Sunday (2 January), Italian outlet Gazetta Dello Sport reported he may now look to force a move to Tottenham to reunite with Antonio Conte.
Lukaku made a public apology for his comments via Chelsea TV on Tuesday (4 January) and returned to the starting XI as his side faced Tottenham on Wednesday night (5 January).
McAvennie insists Lukaku won’t join Tottenham but admitted he would love to see it.
“A lot makes sense about that move,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Conte knows him, he’s a great striker and he did a silly thing. But there is no way he joins Tottenham.
“There is no way he leaves Chelsea, is a better way of putting that. It just won’t happen.
“He’s apologised and I expect Chelsea will just move on, they spent too much to sell him now.
“I don’t know where that report came from but wow, can you imagine?
“The fume from Chelsea fans would be on another level. As fun as it is to imagine, I can’t see it.”

Lukaku rejoined Chelsea from Inter Milan last summer (2021) for £97.5million after winning Serie A with Antonio Conte.
He scored 64 times and provided 16 assists in 95 games across all competitions for Inter.
