Report: Tottenham table offer for £55m-rated Real Madrid sensation, he is keen on PL transfer

By Harry Sykes

Tottenham have made an offer for Real Madrid sensation Alvaro Morata, according to a report.

Spanish publication AS claim the north Londoners are one of three Premier League clubs pushing strongly to sign Morata in the forthcoming transfer window.

It is said that sources close to the player state he is mulling over offers from Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.

AS report that Chelsea are currently in pole position to sign the striker, 24, and are willing to pay £55million to prise him from the Bernabeu.

Morata is frustrated at his lack of opportunities at Real and is keen to make the move to the Premier League.

The forward has scored 18 goals and supplied six assists in 38 matches for the Spanish giants this season, remarkable statistics given that his playing time amounts to 1,701 minutes in all competitions.

He returned to boyhood club Real last summer after two successful seasons at Juventus, where he was a mainstay of the all-conquering Italian side.

Football Insider verdict:

It is little wonder that so many beat clubs are keen to prise Morata from Madrid and offer him a regular role as the spearhead of their attack. He is technically gifted, intelligent, mobile, powerful, can play anywhere across the front three and has a deadly eye for goal. They are gifts that are not always appreciated at Real, where the 24-year-old has had to play second fiddle to Karim Benzema since returning from an impressive two-year spell at Juventus. For those questioning the mammoth price tag, Morata also has an excellent record in big games. There is little doubt about his pedigree. He would be a brilliant signing for Spurs.
