Tottenham Takeover Exclusive: Deal edges closer valuing club at extraordinary £5bn
Tottenham are edging closer to agreeing a deal to sell a stake in the club that values them at an extraordinary £5billion, sources have told Football Insider.
Spurs are open to investment with Qatari investors, ex-Newcastle chief Amanda Staveley and US-based MSP Sports Capital among those linked with a part-takeover in recent month.
Tottenham have been in talks with various consortiums for over a year and progress is believed to have been made behind the scenes in recent weeks.
One sticking point is the valuation of majority owner ENIC, which is believed to have now leapfrogged to £5bn. That is nearly double the independent valuation of Forbes.
Sources say the timing of Donna-Maria Cullen’s exit from the Spurs board, with her departure from the club announced on Monday, could be related to the deal now reaching an advanced stage.
It comes at a time when Vinai Venkatesham has just started work as Spurs chief executive, while chief football officer Scott Munn’s future is in doubt and questions are arising over Matthew Collecott’s role as operations and finance director.

Ange Postecoglou facing Tottenham sack as final decision looms
The big talking point among Spurs fans is the immediate future of manager Ange Postecoglou.
The Spurs executive, led by longstanding chairman Daniel Levy, were leaning strongly last weekend towards sacking Postecoglou, as revealed by Football Insider on Sunday.
A final decision is expected by the end of this week, but it would count as a big u-turn were the Australian to now remain as manager.
A 17th-place finish in the Premier League last season – Tottenham’s lowest in England’s top flight since 1977 – was offset by success in the Europa League, where a 1-0 win over Man United handed the north Londoners their first trophy in 17 years and Champions League qualification.

Thomas Frank edges ahead in race to be named Tottenham boss
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has emerged as Tottenham’s number one choice to replace Postecoglou should they decide to pull the trigger.
Club chiefs have been exploring alternatives for months, including Brentford’s Frank, Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola.
It is believed club chiefs are increasingly convinced by the credentials of long-serving Bees boss Frank, who has been in charge at the Brentford Community Stadium since 2018.
