Report: Tottenham talking to three Premier League clubs for last-minute attacker deal

By Aramide Oladipo

Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen is attracting interest from three Premier League sides on the last day of the summer transfer window, according to a report.

The Daily Mail claims on their live transfer blog on their website (Thursday, 12:11 am) that Swansea City, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion are currently holding discussions with Spurs over a deadline day deal for the 23-year-old.

The newspaper reports that the Swans are looking to sign the Dutchman on a loan deal this season whilst Stoke and West Brom are seeking to snap him up in a deal worth £23million.

The report claims that the Spurs are on the verge of securing the signature of Swansea talisman Fernando Llorente which has made the Welsh club step up their interest in Janssen before the transfer window shuts.

The Netherlands international has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Spurs starting line up since securing a permanent move last summer.

The striker only managed to notch up six goals in all competitions last season as he played second fiddle to main man Harry Kane.

Janssen has only been used a late substitute in the defeat against Chelsea this season.

The Dutchman currently has three years remaining on his contract with the North London club.

Football Insider verdict

With Llorente on the verge of signing for Tottenham on deadline day, Janssen is unlikely to feature for the club this season and it would be best for all parties involved to see him move on. Amongst all the Premier League teams interested, the striker might be tempted to a move to Wales as he would clearly be the number one choice at the club which would enhance his chances of securing a place with the Dutch national squad to travel to next year’s World Cup in Russia. However, Spurs would be more inclined to want Janssen to leave on a permanent deal as they could use the funds to try and push through more deadline day deals.

In other Tottenham transfer news, they have made a big decision on Marcus Edwards on deadline day.
