Manchester City are close to sealing a £10million deal for Dinamo Zagreb emerging star Ante Coric, according to a report.
The Mirror claim the transfer of the the attacking midfielder is nearing completion as City look to continue their summer spending.
Sky Sports claimed on their website at the start of August that Premier League pair Everton and Tottenham had made contact with the club from Croatia about signing the 19-year-old.
Croatian media outlet Tportal had claimed in July that Liverpool had put in a £12million bid for the youngster, but the Sky report stated that Jurgen Klopp’s interest has cooled on the two-time capped Croatia international.
Coric has also attracted interest from clubs in Germany and Italy and it is believed that Zagreb are willing to discuss his departure this summer.
The Mirror suggest City have now won the race for the playmaker who has been likened in Croatia to City leading light David Silva.
The youngster attracted scouts from several European teams, as he scored five goals and supplied six assists during Dinamo Zagreb’s title winning season.
The Croatian club accept they face a battle to hang on to the youngster and their bid to drive up the price is helped by interest from the large number of Premier League club’s in their player.
