Finance guru tips Tottenham to cash in amid talks over ‘super-smart’ US deal
Tottenham can take advantage of commercial and strategic opportunities through a link-up with MLS side Orlando City.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the potential for growth in the United States.
The Daily Mail reported last Friday (25 March) that Spurs are in talks with Orlando over a player exchange arrangement at youth level.

Orlando owners Zygi and Mark Wilf took in Spurs’ 3-1 win over West Ham on 20 March as they ironed out the finer points of the plan in person.
The Wilf brothers also own NFL outfit Minnesota Vikings, and Spurs are also looking to capitalise on their know-how in the American sports market.
Establishing an outpost across the pond is a clever strategy from Tottenham, insists Plumley.
“It’s a super-smart move for Spurs,” the Sheffield Hallam University told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“These kinds of knowledge transfer agreements are doing the rounds more these days.
“We know there is the opportunity for commercial tie-ins and sponsorship agreements. It gives you a foothold in that area.
“That opportunity for data exchange and strategic visions sharing is coming to the fore a little bit as well.
“Spurs are in a good position with the new stadium and events they have going on there to maximise that.
“They have already got the NFL partnership and that obviously helps with the links to America.
“There’s opportunity for growth on both sides, so it’s a good tie-in for Spurs.”

Tottenham have strong links with American football through their agreement to host two NFL games per season.
Academy graduate Brandon Austin spent last season on loan at Orlando City, making five appearances.
